Marden phone box gets spooky makeover

The phone box in the village of Marden, near Devizes, was looking particularly seasonal this week after villagers decorated it for Halloween.

The kiosk, which was bought by the village after BT removed the phone from it, has been renamed the Marden Exchange and it is now a versatile space for a library, produce swap and any other community use that comes to mind.

This week the box was decorated with pumpkin lanterns, witches’ caldrons and other spooky Halloween items.

The pumpkins will be judged on Saturday and prizes awarded for humour, technical ability and imagination.

Organiser Lalu Carter said: “We've been delighted by the response so far, and thanks to all those who have taken part. There will also be a DVD and produce swap.

“Any donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be most welcome and can be left at the Millstream Pub.”
