Website boost for the voluntary sector

The Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon has launched a website to make it easier for businesses and individuals to support community projects.

Through the development of the site, voluntary and community groups in Wiltshire and Swindon now have an opportunity to compete with the bigger charities by having an online presence.

Localgiving.com is the brainchild of Marcelle Speller who appeared on Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire in October 2010 where she gave almost £100,000 to five local groups in Plymouth.

The foundation is helping local groups access online facilities such as Facebook and Twitter to help them raise awareness of what they do.

They have also partnered with Localgiving.com to provide these groups with fundraising web pages, guides and training.

The benefits to the group include maximising the value of donations with the addition of Gift Aid without having to register directly. This can add 25 per cent to donations.

The foundation is running a £200 Match Challenge from today until November 21.

All groups registered on Localgiving.com will have up to £200 in donations matched 100 per cent by the foundation. Donations can also attract match funding from Localgiving.com itself.

If you work for or know of a group that could benefit from this opportunity, call the foundation on (01380) 729284 or email localgiving@wscf.org.uk
