Deputy head Helen Williams and pupils take a leaf out of their favourite books
Children at Cherhill Primary School met a whole host of characters during their book week.
Staff and pupils began the week’s celebrations by coming to school dressed up as book characters. Children in Key Stage 1 attended story workshops with the local library and classes joined up to read to each other.
Later in the week around 120 children came back to school in their pyjamas with their favourite cuddly toy to take part in a bedtime story session. Deputy head teacher Helen Williams said the highlight of the week was the author visit for Key Stage 2, when Debi Evans from Marlborough, who has written five books titled The Secret Society of Dragon Protectors, spoke about her work Miss Williams said: “The aim of Debi’s school visit was to promote reading and inspire creative writing and it certainly did that. During the big write session, after the talk, the children wrote their own dragon stories and produced some super work.”
