Alert after burglaries in Calne

Police are warning home owners to secure and lock up their property after a recent rise in burglaries.
Two weeks ago, six homes in London Road, Calne, were targeted and while nothing was taken, three boys were seen running away from a property nearby.
Sergeant Simon Wright said: “It’s happening perhaps a couple of times a week. A few incidents have been garages that weren’t locked and vehicles left on the drive unlocked.”
Residents can install security lighting in gardens, alarms for garage and shed doors, and stronger double barrelled locks. Windows and doors should be locked, and residents can also use dummy CCTV cameras as a deterrent.
