Children escape injury in school bus crash

Thirty nine young children had their day out to the seaside rudely cut short when their 52-seater coach was in collision with a car and a tractor just a few miles from their school.

The Key Stage One children from Urchfont Primary School, near Devizes, aged four to seven, were unhurt in the crash which took place shortly after 9am on the A342 at Rushall.

They were on their way to the seaside at Mudeford, near Christchurch, in Dorset with 12 adults, teachers and parents.

Head teacher Carol Talbot said: "This morning some of our Key Stage 1 students were involved in a road traffic accident on the way to a school trip.

" None of the students or teachers were hurt and they all returned to the school in a replacement coach.

"Parents and guardians were called to come and collect the children and paramedics and a police officer were on site to check those involved and to offer advice.”
