Prom girl's diet joy
Lucy and Alice Muir
Lucy and Alice Muir

teenager Lucie Muir took on a slimming challenge in a bid to look stunning in her prom dress.

Lucie, 16, had one wish and that was to look great in her gown at the Corsham School leavers' do, which was held at Ashton Court, Bristol.

She was joined by her sister Alice, 14, when they became members of Slimming World, in September last year.

The girls, who live in Melksham, went to Corsham Community Centre every Thursday evening with their mum Wendy.

Lucie, who has just finished her GCSEs, said: "I felt both frightened and embarrassed and I didn't know what to expect, but I heard someone talking about Slimming World, so I looked on their website and found that they take on children of my age."

Before starting their healthy eating campaign 5ft 8ins Lucie weighed 14st 10lb and Alice 10st 7lb.

Last month Lucie went to her school prom after losing 2sts 4lbs. The youngster, who yesterday celebrated her 16th birthday with a family meal, said: "I felt amazing in my dress, like a princess. My friends thought I looked great. The main thing that spurred me on through the hard times during the diet was my leavers' ball.

"We bought my dream ball gown before the prom and I had to have it taken in by two inches on both sides because it was too big."

Alice reached her target weight of eight stone 11lbs in January, losing almost two stone. She is proud of herself and her older sister. She said: "I now feel great and all my friends want to know how I've done it."

They are thrilled that they can wear skinny jeans, shorts and skirts that they would never have dreamt of wearing before.

To top their achievements off the sisters were voted joint winners of the Young Slimmer of the Year title for their Corsham group.

Slimming World consultant for the Corsham group Pauline Wilding said: "I am so proud of Lucie and Alice, they have both grown in confidence and their weight loss has been steady and just by making the right choices.

"They used to wear tracksuit bottoms but can now be seen in mini skirts."
