Villagers terrorized by helicopter
RESIDENTS of Lower Compton have been forced to barricade themselves in their homes since 8am this morning after a private helicopter started flying low across the village.
Villager Ron Browning said: "We think the helicopter belongs to Hills Waste who have a massive tip just outside the village.
"The helicopter is flying so low it is too noisy for us to hear anything outside and we have to stay in our homes.
"What is so disgusting is no one told us about it. We contacted the council and civil aviation who said they will be flying all day.We don't even know what they are doing up there."
Hills confirmed it was having an open day in the area and said the helicopter would be down by the end of the afternoon.

I can understand it being a nuisance, but "terrorized" ? What is it, an Apache gunship with a rogue crew?

" forced to barricade themselves in their homes since 8am "
And are the poor folk still indoors?
You can never find a council jobsworth when you need one, eh?
Noise pollution ,elf n safety, there must be a whole string of nuisance offences being committed- get the council to shoot it down!

Why did they "barricade" themselves in (and for that matter how many actually did - I suspect it would be the single predictable complainer) or is this just more poetric licence from our Lucy?

Can't believe the fuss being made over a little helicopter! Last year an RAF helicopter 'buzzed' Lower Compton's gardens with a guy pointing a gun out of the open door! That didn't provoke this sort of reaction! As for parking, well I'm sure you'd get cross if the only spare space, with your name on it, was occupied by someone who shouldn't.
