Sheldon school students arrive at the prom.

MORE than 240 Year 11 pupils dressed up to the nines and headed out for a night of glitz and glamour to celebrate the end of their school lives.

The Sheldon School pupils arrived in style at Grittleton House School for their leaver's prom.

Some took the more conventional option of arriving in limousines and other were more adventurous and came in tractors and motorbikes.

The girls wore ball gowns and evening dresses while the boys attended in suits, tuxedos and one in a complete top hat and tails.

PE teacher at Sheldon Ian Beverage said: "It was really a fantastic night and everyone seemed to have such a great time.

"The pupils are currently mid-way through their GCSE's and so really needed something fun to take their minds off of exam stress.

"They were all dressed up and didn't look much like the pupils we see in school everyday.

"This year's leavers have been a brilliant bunch and worked really hard throughout their school life.

"Many of them are hoping to stay on with us through sixth form but to everyone who is going on we wish them well and future success.

"Proms are always such a great way to end secondary school life on a high."
