Swindon MP's call over Farepak collapse

Swindon South MP Anne Snelgrove has called for justice for Farepak collapse victims ahead of a statement today on the company's demise.

A written statement from BERR is due today about their investigation into the collapse of the Christmas savings company.

"We have come too far to settle for anything less than justice. I hope the statement will trigger a full investigation of the legal alternatives to bring justice in the courts where possible, and a full investigation of the alternatives to new regulations to stop this from happening again."

She called on the courts to settle the related outstanding matter of a trust which could unlock thousands of pounds for the Farepak victims.

"The courts have to play their part and to do whatever is necessary to resolve this financial matter by the end of the Summer so people can have closure."

On the April 25 Mrs Smelgrove withdrew a ten minute rule private members bill which would have regulated the industry when she received reassurances that she would be able to work with BERR to look at alternatives.
