Motorist dies in fatal crash near Devizes

A motorist died in a crash on the A361 between Devizes and Seend on Sunday night .

A silver Peugeot travelling down Caen Hill towards Seend Fork was in collision with a silver Fiat Punto travelling in the opposite direction.

Both cars left the road and the driver of the Peugeot was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the Punto were airlifted by the Wiltshire Air Ambulance to Bath's Royal United Hospital but police said they escaped serious injury.

The collision occurred at 6.25pm on the stretch of road between Caen Hill and Foxhangers soon after the dual carriageway.

PC Mark Burnett of the central roads policing unit based at Chippenham is appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the cars prior to the crash to contact him on 0845 408 7000.
