MP Since - 2010 Majority - 4,914 Born - 1969, Married (Helena), 3 children.
Education - Eton College, Trinity College, Oxford University (History)
Previous Occupation - Worked for J. Rothschild (1991) (Investment Management). Director of Lloyd George Management for 10 years. Has managed British and overseas Pension Funds. Spent three years working in Hong Kong (Mid 1990s). Has his own company, Somerset Capital Management.

Personal Overview - A devoted Conservative he represents the Party's privileged wing coming from an Eton and Oxford background which harks back to former Parliamentary times. He is a local Somerset man brought up in Ston Easton and Hinton Blewett. Sometimes viewed by his detractors as something of a comedy figure - he has been quoted in the Mail on Sunday saying 'I do wish you wouldn't keep going on about my nanny. If I had a valet you'd think it was perfectly normal.' He is a firm opponent of socially engineering Conservative Parliamentary candidates preferring instead a purely merit based approach - 'when you go to an MP you want somebody who will write an articulate letter. . .to get your problem sorted out.' He courted controversy in the run-up to the 2010 General Election through his campaign literature, he offered an apology to Trevor Kavanagh, Political Editor of The Sun, following the plagiarism of one of his articles by an election aide. Proud to be posh he is, along with William Hague, allegedly the inspiration for Harry Enfield's comedy creation Tory Boy. He has political experience having stood for parliament on several previous occasions and has also worked on a US presidential campaign as well as with the Thatcherite Centre for Policy Studies in the UK.

Political History - Parliamentary Candidate, Central Fife (1997), The Wrekin (2001), Member for Somerset North East (2010-). Member of the European Scrutiny Select Committee (2010-). Member of the Procedure Select Committee (2010-).

Characteristics - The son of a life peer, William Rees-Mogg, the former Editor of The Times and his sister is Annunziata Rees-Mogg. A former Director of the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth he was ordered to resign by Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor in February 2008 over concerns about its operational adherence to Catholic doctrine on abortions, contraception and sex-change operations. Has been Chairman of the Cities of London and Westminster Association. Former Primary School Governor. Supports Somerset County Cricket.
