FURTHER to Mr Poole’s letter regarding the Bridge Centre site (March 23).
Chippenham is probably the only town in the country that has a ‘relief road’ that goes into the town and out again.
If the ‘relief road’ had been constructed to cross the river where it does now, but carried on in a straight line towards the hospital, as I believe was the original intention, then we would not be having the congestion that now occurs around the Bridge Centre. But before sorting that problem out, could the council devote a little time to sorting out the gents’ toilets in Emery Gate.
For several months only one of the two cubicles provided for the town possessed a seat. A notice was affixed internally asking the public to bear with them. A seat was eventually fitted which lasted about three weeks, we are now back to one out of order toilet, and one toilet with no seat.
Maybe we should all use the council offices’ toilets. If our council cannot fix a toilet, what hope is there of them fixing the Bridge Centre?
