As the town councillor representing Pewsham, I have been contacted by a number of concerned residents regarding the continuation of Learner LGV Lorries using Canal and Lodge Road on Pewsham, despite the claim by Cllr Mark Packard that these lorries would no longer be using the Pewsham Estate for training purposes.
I wanted to take this opportunity to reassure residents that I am pro-actively engaging with the Head of the Training Company, raising the concerns of the residents regarding highway and pedestrian safety.  I have secured the possibility of a road safety presentation to the local school, the parents and the local community by the Company concerned and would welcome your views on this.  I have also contacted the Highways Department at Wiltshire Council to see if they can help with this matter.

Currently as the only Pewsham Councillor regularly attending the Planning, Environment and Transport Committee at the Town Council, I will be raising this matter on Thursday at its meeting and requesting that the Town Council write to the Training Company raising the community’s concerns also. I will also be making sure the views of the local residents are heard regarding the trial of the closure of the high street on Friday mornings at the same time.
