AS CHAIRMAN of the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse, it is my responsibility to really listen to the voices of victims and survivors.
That is why we have taken the Truth Project to the south west.
The Truth Project will allow give victims and survivors in the South West the chance to share their experiences in confidence with trained facilitators who will not judge. Those Anyone coming forward will be supported through the process.
The information victims and survivors give to the inquiry will create a permanent record that should not be forgotten. This will also inform our work to keep future generations safe and to understand how failings occurred in the past.
We will use this information to help keep future generations safe and to understand the grievous mistakes made in the past.
I want victims and survivors to know that their courage and resilience in coming forward is hugely appreciated and is vital to the work of inquiry. We do not underestimate what it takes for an individual to talk about their experiences, sometimes for the first time.
