WITH all the doom and gloom of the National Health Service on our televisions and in the media, how about some good news?
I attended the eye clinic at Salisbury Hospital last week and, although there were quite a few of us, we all remarked what a good job all the staff were doing there that morning, in their quiet professional way, and the hospital was spotless.
Not so long ago I had to call the ambulance out one Sunday night to my husband, suffering with prostate cancer. The paramedics excelled themselves and he was taken to Salisbury Hospital. After examination he was admitted to the hospital and a few days later taken to Southampton Hospital.
Ok, so we had to wait for a bed until 5pm, but come on, that was no hardship, all the family were just grateful progress was being made.
Our own local surgery, Southbroom, should have a gold star. I sat outside recently and was amazed how many people were going in and out whilst I was there.
The staff and doctors give of their best and, should you telephone for an appointment, if it is an emergency they will give you one that day or a doctor will phone you back and decide which is the best way to deal with your problem.
So come on, interview those of us that have positive results. I know by speaking to others I am not the only one thankful for the NHSNational Health Service.
A proud grandmother of a recently qualified paramedic.
