THIRTEEN years ago I moved to Devizes from the polluted, crowded Heathrow area.
I found a smart, well-cared for country market town with peaceful walks and clean air. Now, due to over-development, it is becoming polluted and run-down.
Housing plans take no account of the lack of infrastructure, for example, roads, school places, doctors and dentists.
Shamefully, parts of the historical heritage of Devizes are being destroyed, as in the case of the Victorian cottage hospital in the heart of the town, due to be bulldozed without a care for the conservation area on its boundary.
The traffic and pollution is already at a critical level and concerns have so far gone unheeded.
I may as well escape from the country.
