IN response to Ms Martin’s letter of January 13.
As a retired engineer with 45 years service in the civil service and having been the subject of many years of pay restraint, I remember the majority of times when the nurses, and members of the other emergency services, were awarded rises at or above the indicated levels whilst the remainder of the civil service were severely constrained.
Whilst not demeaning the service these people provide, maybe it is time for restraint for the medical professionals as well.
