I’M sure that I can’t be the only local councillor receiving complaints regarding cars blocking and parking on local footpaths across the county.
Parents with children, the elderly, often with wheelchairs, and able-bodied people are often forced to walk on the busy roads due to cars parking on the footway intended for pedestrians.
Apart from Exeter and Central London, it’s not an offence to park on a footway, unless it is causing an obstruction, and even then a police officer has to witness the parked car causing an obstruction.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks it’s time for an urgent change in the law.
