IN our traffic-congested town, diesel emissions from cars are a serious health-hazard – not only to pedestrians and cyclists but to the owners of the vehicles and their families.
Pollution from lorries and buses, though bad enough, is lessened somewhat by frequent attention to the filters, but it is obvious that owners of diesel cars do not undertake this servicing for many reasons.
Were these noxious diesel fumes emitting from car exhausts tinted red, for example, pedestrians and owners alike could then see the poisonous particulates that are causing illness and premature death, and be concerned enough, from the highest to the lowest, to do something about it.
