I HAVE seen that the Concert At The Kings event in aid of cancer charities will be back again in May 2017.
As somebody who has family in the village of All Cannings, we all think that it is a fantastic event and that the organisers do a fantastic job for a great cause. However, in recent years, there have been a number of unpleasant incidents in the village around the time of the concert which I believe the concert organisers should be aware of and should seek to do something about where possible.
People have been seen taking in and dealing drugs in and around the event site – could the security guards/stewards check people for drugs and ban those people in possession?
After concerts in 2015 and 2016, some people attending the concert have chosen to ‘relieve’ themselves in the gardens of residents living in All Cannings. I appreciate that a full bladder is problematic, but urinating on somebody’s property is not good and is against the law. Maybe a gentle reminder of this needs to be given?
Unrelated to the above, but there was a reported clash between people getting on the concert buses in Devizes and people wishing to catch the 101 minibus to Pewsey (same stop booked at the same time). Could buses to the concert leave from a different spot in future?
(The Bear /Wadworth Brewery etc.)
There were some people who were extremely loud and noisy after last year’s festival, and although high spirits are a good thing there are people in the village who want to get to sleep after the concert has ended. Again, can people please be thoughtful about the people who live in the village after the concerts?
There have also been incidents of men approaching children in the village around the time of the concert. Now, whilst this issue is difficult to police and is not the fault of the organisers, this needs to be prevented in the future – maybe a police liaison officer could be appointed for the concert to look after matters outside of the event area?
I do hope that the concert organisers take on board these concerns and that the 2017 concert passes trouble free and sees better weather than this year.
