The Aconcagua river winds down from the Andes to the Vina San Esteban Estate which nestles on the valley floor below along the river and over the foothills of the mountains.

Here at the eastern edge of the valley cool nights and warm days make for perfect growing conditions that, when combined with state of the art winemaking, produce wonderfully fruit filled wines of great character. An excellent Chilean wine producer of real style.

• Rio Alto Sauvignon Blanc 2007
  
  Literally just arrived from Chile, this sauvignon blanc is brimming with crisp, clean gooseberry and lime fruit combined with refreshing acidity and a lasting finish.

This is a wine best enjoyed young and fresh, on its own or with food - delicious.

• Rio Alto Chardonnay 2006
  
  Ripe tropical flavours of apple and lemony fruit abound in this full, abundantly drinkable wine from the Aconcagua valley's cool climate.

An unoaked style that is rich yet fresh enough to be a perfect match for smoked salmon or grilled tuna.

• Rio Alto Merlot 2006
  
  Superb value Chilean merlot which shows you just why Chile is famous for producing wonderful wines from this classic grape variety.

Plummy and ripe with smooth rounded fruit, this is a wine that no one could fail to like - try it with or without food.

• Rio Alto Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
  
  Stone fruit flavours of cherries with a nice touch of smoke characterise this excellent example of cabernet sauvignon which is grown on the alluvial soils of the Andean foothills.

A perfect match for grilled or barbequed meats.
