Brightwell Vineyards near Wallingford is run by Bob and Carol Nielsen and is one of Oxfordshire's top vineyards .
The couple make delightfully crisp, clean wines that show a Chablis-like minerality that comes from the chalky soils of their Thames-side vineyard. Deliciously refreshing, well-made wines.
Includes three bottles of each of the following four wines:
- Brightwell Crispin 2005
Winner of a gold medal in the Concours de Vignerons Indépendent tasting held in Angers, France on 9th May, this wine is made from the reichensteiner and bacchus grape varieties which produce
delightful flavours of ultra fresh apples and pears: aromatic, clean and delicious.
- Brightwell Oxford Flint 2006
The new 2006 vintage has just been bottled and is made from huxelrebe and chardonnay. This wine shows wonderfully steely and minerally fruit (reminiscent of the riesling grape) with fresh summer
fruits backed up by good firm acidity. A superb match with summer salads and fish dishes.
- Brightwell Oxford Rosé 2006
Another brand new vintage, this dry rose is made from the dornfelder grape variety and works very well as an aperitif or with food - especially pink salmon which it compliments perfectly with its
fresh flavours of cherry and strawberry. A refreshingly dry and crisp rosé for any occasion.
- Brightwell Oxford Regatta 2005
This fruity red is made from the dornfelder and dunkelfelder grape varieties and has similarities to classic Italian reds such as Valpolicella and Chianti. The wine has been matured in oak for a
brief three months which adds a subtle touch of cream to the fresh cherry and raspberry fruit. A classic food wine, this would be a perfect match for summer pasta and chicken dishes.
