Sauvignon Blanc Case, £86

The Sauvignon Blanc case costs £86 and includes four bottles of each of the following three wines Sauvignon Blanc has come a long way from its homeland in the Loire Valley in France - both literally and metaphorically speaking.

From Montana's first wines in the early 1980's that put New Zealand firmly on the wine map and which set a new and different standard for the grape to other New World countries like Chile and South Africa, the popularity of this aromatic grape variety continues to flourish.

Southbank Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Marlborough, New Zealand

The Southbank Estate was established in 2000 and owns 340 acres of vines in Marlborough, the home of Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand. Classic flavours of gooseberry and passionfruit abound in this crisp yet fruity example of Sauvignon Blanc that has delightful touches of honeysuckle on the finish.

Montes Classic Series Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Casablanca and Curico Valleys, Chile

Aurelio Montes is the man credited with lifting the image of Chilean wines towards the quality end of the market with his well made classic wines. Here his Sauvignon is typically clean with mouth watering crisp fruit and the kind of aromatic structure that comes from high altitude vineyards. Lovely wine.

Vergelegen Sauvignon Blanc 2005, Western Cape, South Africa

One of the very top wineries in South Africa under the auspices of brilliant winemaker Andre von Rensburg, Vergelegen's Sauvignon is crisp and intense with gooseberry, blackcurrant and green pepper. With leanings towards the French style this wine has delightful mineral notes and excellent structure.
