Spanish Case, £68

The Spanish case costs £68 and includes four bottles each of the following three wines.

Despite the price increases that have taken place in Rioja over the years, Spanish wine still remains great value for money and its classic flavours of strawberry, spice and vanilla are extremely popular with the drinking public. Aging regulations also mean that in many cases the producer will age the wine for the customer making it possible to enjoy nicely mature wine at very reasonable prices.

Navajas Tinto 2005, Rioja

Bodegas Navajas is a family run winery based in Navarette. Here Antonio Navajas produces a style of Rioja which is poised between the traditional and the modern with the emphasis on fruit and clean new oak plus delicious touches of smoke and spice - top class wine.

La Copa Garnacha 2005, Campo de Borja

From one of the emerging new areas of Spain, Bodegas Aragonesas produce this classic wine from the Garnacha (or Grenache) grape variety which originally comes from Aragon. This is a wine with delightful fruit and structure which shows subtle touches of cherry and white pepper spice - delicious!

Pata Negra Gran Reserva 1999, Valdepenas

Made by Bodegas Los Llanos in Valdepenas, Pata Negra being their top wine. In this comparatively warm area south of Rioja, the Tempranillo grape produces a richer more fruit filled style that is further bolstered by careful use of new American oak, resulting in a soft and highly drinkable Gran Reserva.
