Former Wiltshire student returns as concerto soloist

North Wiltshire Orchestra performs its first concert of the year on March 8 at St Andrew's Church, Chippenham.

The programme includes Rossini's Overture: The Siege of Corinth, Bruch's Concerto No.1 in G Minor Op 26, and Dvorak's Symphony No.7 in D Minor Op 70.

The concerto soloist is former Dauntsey's School student Juliet Lee. Juliet began learning the violin aged seven with Kerry Heffer. She was a pupil at Dauntsey's for five years, studying with Patricia Noall.

Subsequently she won a place a Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, studying with Ben Holland. There she lead the Symphony Orchestra and was awarded the Chetham's Orchestral Prize.

In 2003, Juliet entered the Royal College of Music in the class of Yossi Zivoni, graduating last year. She is currently on the Masters Programme at the Royal College of Music, where she is a violin scholar and a Leverhulme Orchestral Mentor. .

The orchestra is conducted by Chris Thompson with Michael Oliver as leader.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets are available from from Devizes Books (01380) 725944, Chippenham Tourist Information Office, members of the orchestra or on the door.
