Joseph's Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
10:30am Friday 6th July 2012 in Theatre & Arts
Wharf Theatre, Devizes July 18-21
THE internationally renowned and globally acclaimed musical is being given the Wharf Youth Theatre’s treatment of energy, enthusiasm and pizzazz – and some phenomenal dance routines. The timeless tale of brotherly jealously and parental foolishness is set alongside some of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s most memorable songs. Audiences will admire the charismatic hero, despair at his doting father, boo the brothers’ dastardly deeds and scream themselves hoarse at the Pharaoh. Excellent fun for all the family, this show aims to leave you uplifted and roaring Go, Go, Go Joseph.
Director Claire Abraham said: “I first saw Joseph when I was 15, and was struck by the total lunacy and irreverent humour of it, something that I hope we have captured a little of with this production.
“I was warned that it would be a challenge, and indeed it has been. But it has been utterly rewarding too, the talented young performers have brought bags of energy and enthusiasm from day one.”
Tickets available from Devizes Books on 01380 725944, price £7.
