Blending the fire of Eastern European gypsy fiddle music and the passion of Argentinian Tango, the Zum Trio took Corsham Festival by storm at a concert in the Pound Arts Centre on Monday night.

With Adam Summerhayes on violin, Chris Grist on cello and Eddie Hession on accordion, Zum created the perfect music for a sultry summer night. They played a mix of original compositions alongside new interpretations of classic tango and Eastern European music, including a piece of Hungarian suicide music, a beautiful, meltingly melancholy piece.

The band, which first performed in 2001, has enjoyed sell-out tours and performed at major festivals across the UK, Europe and the USA. The Corsham audience seemed suitably seduced by the wonderfully textured, emotive music created by the combination of fiddle, cello and accordion.

The trio were relaxed, informal performers, happy to talk about their music, but their virtuoso playing had the audience enthralled.
