Orchestral music from the ballet for a summer’s evening


A June evening of ballet music and more - Marlborough Concert Orchestra's summer concert will take place on Saturday June 28, at 7.30 pm in St Mary's Church, Marlborough.

Following its successful spring concert, the orchestra, whose members range from 15 to 75 years old, has been busy rehearsing a summer programme of light music including a range of ballet music - Faust ballet music by Gounod, Les Sylphides by Chopin, Schubert's Overture to Rosamunde, as well as the well known Haydn's Clock Symphony.

Tickets will be on sale in Sound Knowledge, Hughenden Yard, Marlborough, or from members of the orchestra or on the door.

The concert promises to be an enjoyable evening out with an interval bar and raffle as well as the music, to entertain the audience.

And, who knows, perhaps some audience participation.

n Marlborough Concert Orchestra plays light music and popular classics. It has entertaining rehearsals and performs three concerts a year. It aims to promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of orchestral music in all its aspects.

Members' ages range from 14 to 75.

The orchestra rehearses on Tuesdays 7.30pm to 9.30pm St John's School, Marlborough. There are vacancies for players in some sections.
