Murder Weapon
Western Players
Arts Centre, Devizes Road, Swindon
June 14 - 17, 7.30pm.
THE Western Players have chosen a murder mystery for their latest offering, but one offering rather more than the hackneyed plots many amateur theatregoers associate with the genre.
Murder Weapon is an ingeniously plotted, highly tense thriller from Brian Clemens, creator of The Avengers, which was first performed just four years ago so has a completely modern take.
When Chief Constable Jessica Bligh arrives at Dysart Hall with Diane Tulliver after a night at the opera, a horrifying scene awaits. Paul Tulliver has been shot dead and ex-convict Charley Mirren stands over him with a gun.?It appears to be an open-and-shut case for the police but all is not as it seems and more than the identity of the murderer is in question.
Expect characters who step outside the usual bounds of cliche.
Tickets, £10, concessions £9, available from boxoffice@westernplayers.co.uk or call 07575 711522.
