Review for The Other Half

Sunday 14th June 2015

Mark Billingham is well known to those who read crime fiction; his Tom Thorne novels are well known in that genre.

At the outset of the show Mark explains his love of country music and how he stalked My Darling Clementine before putting the idea of The Other Half to them.

My Darling Clementine are a married couple, both accomplished musicians who write and perform their own songs in true country style.

Together, these performers gave an evening of innovative and entertaining music and prose.

Mark Billingham reads the story intertwining it with the accents of the characters, and before long the audience were right there in a rundown Memphis bar.

The songs supported the story bringing to life the sad tales of bliss, heartbreak, lust, murder and domestic violence – and the long painful search for the other half.

Is there a happy ending? The show still tours throughout the UK at major festivals and venues, so it would be unfair to take a sneaky peek at the last page!
