Ray Dance and Judith Sharp have assembled a talented company to stage the Wiltshire premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, Sunset Boulevard, at the Arts Centre, Devizes Road, Swindon, this summer. The show, only recently released for amateur production, will be staged nightly from June 24-27, plus a Saturday matinee; profits will benefit Prospect Hospice.

Sunset Boulevard is based on Billy Wilder's Academy Award-winning 1950 film that starred Gloria Swanson. The story revolves around Norma Desmond, a faded star of the silent screen era, Norma is living on her past, in a decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street, where a chance encounter with a young scriptwriter, Joe Gillis, sparks her hopes for a come-back. A passionate, volatile relationship ensues, before the unforeseen finale. This memorable show weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition.
