It has been another successful year for the Pewsey Vale Amateur Dramatic Society’s pantomime with an uplifting production of Beauty and the Beast.
This version of the classic fairytale was laced with contemporary music and jokes, including mentions of Pewsey and the surrounding area, leaving the audience smiling from ear to ear.
Belle was played by this year’s carnival queen Eleanor Smith, who took on the role enthusiastically and tackled some difficult musical numbers including Let it Go from Disney’s Frozen.
Director Steve Clements put in another strong performance as he once again donned an array of brightly coloured wigs and took on the role of pantomime dame, encouraging audience participation throughout.
A lot of the laughter was provided by the double acts of camp beautician Stuart Jamason Hartley and his partner Jess Ward and Ugly Sisters Nikki Field and Tanya Borg.
One of the best performances came from Jo Wakeman who played the pantomime baddie Belladonna, providing plenty of opportunity for the obligatory panto booing.
The production may have been amateur but the set was far from it, greatly adding to the spectacular pantomime magic.
