Local artists and designers will showcase a diverse range of work, from sculpture to illustration, painting to mixed media.

Trowbridge Arts is hosting an exhibition over three floors of the town hall’s intriguing building, including the cells in the basement, where prisoners were held before going to court.

The exhibition will feature works of contemporary art and design by 15 artists from all over the South West.

The display is the brainchild of Kelly Hatt from Melksham who, after returning to the area after studying at university, wanted to create an exhibition opportunity for other artists in the same situation.

Kelly, who is also one of the exhibiting artists, said: “I was very excited to receive submissions from such amazing artists and designers and can’t wait to see the exhibition all come together.”

She said she was delighted to be exhibiting in a building with such history.

The opening night event will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 6-8pm.

There will be an opportunity to meet the artists involved in the show on Saturday, December 6, from 11am-3pm where you can drop in to talk to them about their work.

The art work on display will be available to buy throughout the exhibition.
