A young actor is needed to help make a school’s bid to give students more theatrical experience a success.

St Mary’s School in Calne is taking a step into the community with a new venture in its fully equipped studio theatre.

So far, the theatre has only been used for school productions but new head of drama Ed Couzens is reaching out to the community and the first outside production is to be staged there next January. An Inspector Calls by J B Priestley is being directed by Deanna Capper, a highly regarded theatre director who has worked at many venues throughout the West Country, including the Wharf Theatre in Devizes.

Experienced amateur actors like Lewis Cowen, Annabel Chater and Peter Wallis will join students to perform the show.

The production is going on at St Mary’s on January 28-31 but there has been a slight hitch. They have so far been unable to cast the part of Gerald Croft, the fiancé of Sheila Birling, one of the “suspects” in the drama, a classic of English literature which is on the GCSE syllabus.

Young actors in their twenties or thirties who would like to tackle the role should contact Annabel Chater on 07711 090518 or Deanna Capper at capmor36@yahoo. com
