A packed programme at the Pound Arts Centre in Corsham over the next three months features drama, dance, comedy, music in several genres, films and includes the four-day Corsham Summer Festival: no excuse for boredom here.

Award-winning tango vocalist Martín Alvarado is on stage on Saturday at 8pm, when Tango de Amor promises an undiluted evening of tango at its sensual best. Martín Alvarado is considered to be one of the most exciting contemporary vocalists in traditional tango from Argentina for decades.

He will be joined by acclaimed Peruvian pianist and bandoneón player Claudio Constantini, and dancers Guillermo Torrens and Maria Maragaki who last year won two Latin UK Awards. They will be performing Argentine tango in an improvised style. This is how it is danced in Buenos Aires socially but it is unusual to see it danced in this way for stage performances.

It’s music to the fore the following weekend, with performances over three days from Jackie Oates (ex-Unthanks), Louise Jordan and guitarist Richard Durrant, who is carrying his entire tour kit on his bike as he cycles 1,000 miles in seven weeks, in a bid to cut his carbon footprint.

Theatrical highlights include Sauce for the Goose, from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, featuring the largest cast ever seen on the Pound’s stage.

This classic French farce is a wonderful mix of passions, pace and pleasure.

For Downton Abbey fans, a hilarious parody, The Only Way is Downton, comes direct from a West End tour.

The Pound is excited to be hosting a LEGO workshop for all LEGO-lovers, big or small.

Finally, Pound Arts will be embarking on a new strand when Saul David presents stories from the battlefield to the Home Front during the First World War in 100 Days to Victory: How The Great War was Fought and Won.
