Wiltshire stars are flying into Bath’s Theatre Royal next month, when Emma Puddick from Corsham and Jennifer Lavender from Chippenham play two of the three title roles in a new production of The Witches of Eastwick.

Emma and Jen play bored divorced housewives Alexandra and Sukie, who one stormy night fantasise with their friend Jane over the man of their dreams and in no time he appears, in the form of the mysterious, charismatic Darryl Van Horne.

He wastes no time in seducing each of them in turn and moving them into his house. He teaches the witches to cast spells and fly but in the end they get their own back on their devilish seducer.

“I love playing, Alex”, says Emma. “She has so little confidence in her looks and Darryl brings her out of herself. I also can’t wait to fly, as I once broke my leg jumping off a table in Tinkerbell wings trying to fly. I then broke the cast trying to do the same thing.”

“I definitely relate to Sukie”, says Jennifer, “especially with her difficulties in speaking. I had a similar struggle since a young age, although those who know me will tell you that it hasn’t put me off talking now.

“I am also very much looking forward to flying. It’s going to be a great experience.”

Emma and Jennifer as the witches share the title role with Sabrina Messer, while Richard Pugh plays Darryl.

The award-winning Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society is going out on a limb to present this fantastic musical, fizzing with excitement with jazzy songs, a raunchy story, flying witches, sexy dancing and much more.

Tristan Carter and Peter Blackwood return as director and music director with Annette Wilsher as choreographer to take BODS’ successful run of shows to new heights in this musical comedy, based on the 1987 film from a novel by John Updike. Their BODS production of The Mikado won Best Opera in last year’s Rose Bowl Awards.

This is an adult show, not suitable for young children.
