The husband of actress Lynda Bellingham said losing her will "create the biggest hole in my life", as he comes to terms with her decision to end chemotherapy treatment.

Michael Pattemore said he does not know how he will cope without her, but said he is comforted by her being "at peace" after making her choice.

He has told Yours magazine: "I am the most positive-thinking guy in the world. Unfortunately it doesn't matter how positive I am on this one, the Good Lord is going to take her. End of. It's scary and it's going to create the biggest hole in my life."

Bellingham, 66, went public at the weekend with her decision to stop the chemo sessions in November, although she hoped to see one last Christmas.

The actress - best known for her long-running role as a mum in the Oxo TV adverts - has been battling colon cancer since being diagnosed little over a year ago, which later spread to her lungs and liver.

Yesterday she said she was "in a good place" in a message she sent to former colleagues on ITV daytime show Loose Women.

Pattemore, in an interview to be pulished in Yours today, said: "I just don't know what the next few weeks will bring or how I'm going to cope. I try not to think about it and what's going to happen when she's gone.

"The only thing that's giving me comfort is that Lynda is very much at peace with everything; we've managed to sort everything out. I just pray to God she gets to see Christmas Day again. It's what she wants."

He went on: "The past ten years with Lynda have been the best of my life; I've thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.

"Believe it or not, we've never even argued, which I think is probably because we share the same sense of humour. She's so funny when she's telling her jokes and so genuinely kind, not to mention so talented. And she's probably one of the most loving mothers I've ever seen."

Yesterday Bellingham, who has also been a Strictly Come Dancing contestant, sent a message to Loose Women thanking the presenters for their support and telling them: "You have no idea how much it means to me. But please understand I am in a good place. It is essential to feel you have some control of your life.

She went on: "Grasp it all, don't be afraid, enjoy the bits you can and tell your family you love them while you have the chance. Again thank you for all the years of support you have given me. You are the Loose Women and we are the best."
