THIS year’s summer festival season is to be kicked off by a new charity rock gig in Chippenham.
The NamFest has been organised to offer music lovers in the town an alternative to the folk festival in May and the occasional Eddie Cochran festival.
It will play host to a number of national bands including King Rat and The Desperados, Bad Lizard, Halagoogoo and Miss Vickery.
Organiser Ben Slater said: “We are doing this for a number of reasons but namely to raise the profile of the town, give the young and the young hearted in the community something to rock out to and to raise money for charity.
“We want to raise some serious money for the Make A Wish Foundation. There was something lacking in the Chippenham area, there was something for folk fans but not a lot else.
The festival will be held in the Olympiad leisure centre on June 9.
Tickets can be bought at the Noteworthy music shop in Station Hill for £10 or £12 on the night.
