Nicholas Peters, a local music teacher and former Bath Spa University student, will have his music performed by the Manon Quartet on Saturday 6 June at The Pound arts centre in Corsham. The concert is curated by Nicholas and Alex Nikiporenko, who together in late 2014 formed an experimental music concert series called 840.

Nicholas said "I love having my music performed by the dynamic and talented Manon Quartet. The vibrancy of their sound and edginess of their overall performance is a very rewarding experience. It was exciting to compose a piece especially for them but the real delight is hearing them play it so beautifully."

The concert will also feature a major work, Doubles (2012), by the leading British experimental composer John Lely, who worked at Bath Spa University with James Saunders on an funded research project about "Words and Music".

The programme is completed with fresh, experimental music that was all composed especially for the Manon Quartet by Louis d'Heudieres (current PhD Music student at Bath Spa University), Matthew Lee Knowles, Neil Luck, Alex Nikiporenko and Tristan Rhys Williams.

The Manon Quartet is an exciting young ensemble formed in 2013 of musicians from the Royal College of Music. Since playing together, they have won first prizes in the Helen Just and Susan Connell Royal College of Music, String Quartet Competition and the CAVATINA Intercollegiate String Quartet Competition.

Tickets for New Music for String Quartet are £10 (£9 concessions). Book online at poundarts.org.uk or through Pound Arts' box office 01249 701628.
