Gilbert flying high at balloon release Gilbert flying high at balloon release

Our favourite alligator has made an appearance at Sutton Benger Primary School, which two years ago was placed in special measures after Government inspectors found it to be failing.

Now it is flying high and nothing will be allowed to burst its bubble.

Yesterday hundreds of balloons in all colours of the rainbow were released over the village to mark its journey from poor to performing and Gilbert was on hand to see the action.

Headteacher Suzanne Lloyd, who was appointed after the school was put into special measures, said: "We now have a fantastic and dedicated team of teachers and support staff.

"The children are excellent ambassadors for the school and very committed to achieving the highest standards.

"The school community is very positive and excited about the bright future ahead for the school."

The balloon launch follwed a service for children, staff and parents in the village church.
