DEVIZES has more than its fair share of coffee shops but few can offer the value for money of the one that is part of Edward Giddings off-licence in Devizes.
We called in on a Thursday, which thanks to the market means the town is always busy, when the sun was out and we were keen to make the most of it by sitting outside.
Luckily there was a spare table in the paved walkway outside the shop. I was slightly thrown when I went inside to order to find there were no menus so I had to rely on my memory to let the rest of my family know what was on offer.
My husband said he would have whatever I was having while my rather more fussy daughter came inside to check out the offerings for herself.
There is a wide choice of fillings for rolls that can be soft white or artisan, salads, soups and homemade cakes. Francesca went for coronation chicken in a white roll while I played it safe and ordered ham salad in artisan rolls for myself and Ron.
We shared a packet of up market crisps and a slice of coffee cake all washed down with a Diet Coke for each of us.
Ron offered me a £20 with which to pay which I thought was being rather optimistic. But I was amazed when the total came to around £12.
Needless to say we have already been back and it is now high up on my list of the best cafes in town.
