Cheap and cheerful

Food served all day

AS my sister Emily was visiting for the half term holidays we decided to pop into Spoons for lunch after showing her around Devizes.

The chain pub is right in the centre of town so it is very handy for parking and access. Although busy for weekday lunchtime we managed to find a quiet table at the back of the pub.

Spoon’s has a large varied menu catering for a variety of tastes, but I wasn’t after anything large so opted for a cheese toastie and Emily decided to have a ham and cheese panini.

Even though the pub was busy our order came out very quickly.

I like that you can swap the chips that come with the meal for a salad, which we both did, although some dressing would have been a bonus.

My toastie was nice and the bread used was of the poppy seed variety, making it a nice alternative to white or wholemeal.

Emily said she enjoyed her panini and, although it was a bit dry, it was tasty none the less.

Spoon’s has very reasonable prices but when visited we our meals came under a deli offer and both meals including two soft drinks came to an unbelievably cheap total of £6.78.

Overall the menu was pleasant and for the price I couldn’t really complain.

I was tempted to get a piece of chocolate fudge cake as a dessert but as the calorie amounts are on all items on the menu I decided that at 830 calories, it wasn’t worth the guilt.
