AFTER finishing our shopping in the store, and feeling a bit peckish, the best option was to try out the café on the top floor of the Melksham store.

It was the display of food itself which lured us in, an impressive range of sandwiches and toasties in a cabinet with interesting sounding names which couldn't be ignored.

They were packed with fillings and freshly made, perfect to enjoy with a mid-morning coffee or tea, which was free with the store's privilege card (Monday to Friday only).

We decided on the pulled pork, sliced cheese, American mustard and mayo on Turkish-style flatbread and the brie, basil and tomato, again on flatbread (£4.95 each), with a portion of chips to share (£2).

Seating is both indoors and out, on a terrace, although it was a little too cold for that option, and a nice touch was a corner of toys for those with small children.

After only a small wait, the toasties were served with a side salad and dressing. The pulled pork was an excellent choice with the fillings bursting out of the side and perfectly toasted. The flatbread also made a change from everyday bread. The brie version was good, but there weren't too many tomatoes in evidence. The chips were also excellent, large and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.

It was just right for a stop-off in pleasant surroundings and I have a feeling we will be back.
