MY friends and I were looking for a cheap and cheerful place to grab a bite to eat and decided to pop into the Rose and Crown in Trowbridge.

The pub was not too busy when we arrived and we quickly found somewhere to sit. Everyone in the group was impressed by the modern decor which was light and airy.

The menu isn’t all that vast but it didn’t feel like there were not enough options. We were served by a very cheerful waitress who was very obliging.

I opted for the gourmet burger topped with relish and onion rings and added cheese for an extra 50p.

My dining companions chose vegetarian supreme pizza and the chicken burger with bacon.

The burger was delicious and cooked just right. It was served with chips and coleslaw and was very filling but luckily I had bought my appetite with me.

My only gripe with the meal was that the bun was a little bit hard but at £8 I thought it was very good value for money.

Janice was very impressed with her pizza. She chose to go for the 12 inch as it was just £1 more than the 9 inch and said it was a cheese lover’s dream.

With the addition of a side salad the pizza was too much for one sitting but luckily she was able to take half of the pizza home with her in a box which the pub was happy to provide.

Tarquin was impressed with the size of his burger and enjoyed the addition of the crispy bacon but was a little disappointed by the amount of chips.

With drinks the bill came to £34.85 which I think was great value for a pleasant meal in a venue with a great atmosphere.
