WHEN I walk into Chippenham I often walk past Subway and their bright adverts of new products and offers often catches my eye.
So on a busy Saturday lunchtime I decided to pop in and see what I made of this generally very popular outlet.
A sign on the door warned me that the hot drinks machine was out of order and would be repaired soon but this didn’t affect me as I was planning on a cold drink.
There’s certainly no lack of choice in Subway, with your pick of six breads just to get things started.
I went for a foot-long chicken and bacon ranch on hearty Italian bread and really enjoyed it. It’s always been a selling point of Subway that you can add as many or as few items of salad as you wish, I chose lettuce, peppers, red onion and cucumber and some ranch sauce, all at no extra cost.
In addition to my sub, I grabbed a packet of crisps and a medium drink which brought the total up to £7.19.
Certainly this is not cheap but there are plenty of less expensive options available on the menu, with a selection of six inch subs and a drink costing just £3.
The restaurant was fairly busy as it was a weekend and without a huge number of tables finding a seat wasn’t easy but I managed to find a place by the window.
Overall, this quick and easy option gave me just what I was expecting and although it isn’t cheap, I did find it suitably filling to get me through the afternoon.
