I have popped in the cafe for a hot drink and chat on many occasions, and always thought the food looked tasty, so after a meeting in town last week I decided to grab an early lunch.

The cafe, which also doubles up as the canal trust shop, is very inviting with lots of products and cakes on display.

It has good breakfast and lunch menu with a variety of both hot and cold options available.

For my lunch I chose a cheese and chutney sandwich and an orange hot chocolate.

During the short wait, while my food was being freshly prepared, I sipped my drink which was in a generously sized mug.

It was delicious with the orange not too sweet or overpowering. There were also many other flavours of coffee and hot chocolate on offer including hazelnut and caramel.

I was pleasantly surprised when my sandwich came out as it was a large portion for the price of £4.95 and also came with a mixed salad and crisps.

The bread had been warmed up, melting the cheese slightly, which I think made the sandwich just that bit tastier and the chutney gave it a nice kick.

To finish off I opted for a piece of brownie that I had to take back to the office with me as it was huge.

Very tasty but I think offering the option of warming it up would make it even more tempting.

I would definitely go to the cafe for lunch again, perhaps taking family or a good book to read due to its relaxed setting by the canal.

Take away drinks would also be a benefit here and I, along with many others I’m sure, would be in a lot more often for take away hot chocolates and coffees.

My total bill for the sandwich, drink and brownie was £8.95, which I thought was very reasonable for the portions sizes on offer.
