What good value. I bought a sandwich, muffin and coffee and, at the prices displayed, my bill should have come to £5.95. But with the long term offers, the total was reduced to just £3.50.
There was no reduction in taste, though. I have not enjoyed a sandwich as much for a long time.
The granary bread was beautifully fresh and moist, so much so that I savoured the malt-flavoured crusts as much as the rest. The filling – tuna chunks with mayo and sliced cucumber – was generous and packed in right to the edges. It was a bakery standard sandwich at a supermarket price.
The lady who served me, who was very polite, said all the goods come from their bakery in Bristol.
They even sell a vegetarian sausage roll among their hot pasty options, which I have sampled before and found to be authentic tasting, with even meat eaters finding it flavoursome.
The coffee was hot and strong. Imagine my disappointment when I started on my white chocolate and raspberry muffin and found it to be rather synthetic tasting.
However, it was still quite yummy, with a good ratio of muffin to jam, but lacked the homemade quality of my delicious sandwich.
* Very limited seating, both inside and out.
