It was a sweltering Saturday in Swindon town centre so we stopped for a bite to eat.

Havelock Street has a few cafes and restaurants to choose from and another bonus is it is pedestrianised.

With the doors pulled back to the sides, opening up the inside, and tables outside it had a continental feel.

The menu has a selection of sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, burgers and main meals.

Keith went for the big breakfast of two eggs, two bacon, two sausages, two hash browns, grilled tomato, mushrooms, baked beans and toast (£6.40), while his mum had two eggs and chips (£2.70) and I had mushroom omelette which came with chips and salad (£4.40).

Keith had pineapple juice and me apple juice which went down a treat. Keith’s mum had a large cappuccino.

The egg yolks looked huge and very inviting and were quickly devoured, as was everything else. Keith said it was all tasty and the cup of coffee he had with it was really good.

My mushroom omelette was cooked well and the chips were okay. There was no music playing so we were able to chill out. Service was friendly and prompt and tables and floor were clean. The bill was £17.70.
