AFTER a day being pampered at the spa, my girlfriend and I decided to keep the treats going with a Sunday evening trip to The Tramshed in Bath.

The huge eatery is in Beehive Yard, just away from the centre of the city.

We were greeted by a friendly waitress, who sat us in the rather quiet dining area. The menu had a good selection of dishes, including lamb, fish and steak. We decided to skip starters and save room for dessert.

I went with a margherita pizza (£7.95) and Anna picked the West Country beef burger with cheese (£10.95).

Waiting for our mains to arrive, it gave us time to enjoy the modern furnished establishment, with wooden tables, sofas and bright colours.

Our meals arrived promptly; my pizza looked like a work of art, because of the way the tomatoes and basil were presented. More importantly, it tasted delicious and was generously-sized.

Anna’s burger, which came with skin-on fries, was huge and left her suitably stuffed. This was rather convenient, as it meant I could pick away at her fries.

Despite satisfying our appetites, we were keen to try the Tramshed’s desserts. I ordered a brownie with vanilla ice cream (£5.75) and my dining companion selected mixed berry Eton mess (£5.50).

As we waited for our puddings, open mic night began. This initially made me regret ordering desserts, in case the performers weren’t up to scratch.

But, thankfully, my fears were unnecessary. The various performers, who played guitar and sang hits by The Beatles, Gabriella Cilmi and the Rolling Stones, among others, were all very good.

During the evening, the Tramshed’s bar really filled up and the performers helped create a fantastic atmosphere.

Anna and I both enjoyed our desserts and our trip out made a perfect end to a lovely day.

In total, the bill, including a pint of Aspall cider (£3.95) and two glasses of white wine (£6.90) came to a reasonable £47.90.
