Summer at Bowood 2008
Charities to reap Bowood benefits
Bowood House
Bowood House

ORGANISERS of next month's Bowood Dog Show and Country Fair are aiming to raise more than £20,000 for charities including the Springboard Opportunity Playgroup.

The show, at Bowood House on June 8, will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Wiltshire Blind Association, Headway Bath, Christ Church Derry Hill and Chippenham-based Springboard, the pre-school for children with special needs.

Show president Lady Lansdowne said: "This is our third year and we are determined to reach our target of raising £20,000 for these very worthwhile charities.

"The show is fast becoming a main event in Wiltshire's calendar and people tell us how much they look forward to the show as it is a lovely, traditional family event."

This year's show is sponsored by Chippenham firm Wavin, based at Parsonage Way industrial estate.

Anne Shaw, chair of Wavin's community relations committee, said: "We have been so impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment of Bowood to stage an event that not only offers a great day out for people living in and around Chippenham, but raises valuable funds for good causes.

New attractions at this year's show include the Eckington Manor Cookery Village where top food writers and TV food programme presenters Matthew Fort and Tom Parker Bowles will be joining the chefs for workshop and demonstrations.

Lady Lansdowne said: "This is a fabulous day out for all the family, whether or not you have a dog. We have added so many new attractions. There's the cookery village for people, like me, who love to cook.

"I am sure our younger visitors will be thrilled by the chance to get up close to the wild animals in the Jungletalk zoo including pythons and tarantulas."

Bowood is delighted to join forces with the Gazette and Herald to offer readers the exclusive opportunity to buy a discount price family ticket to the show. This offer is not available anywhere else.

We are offering the special family ticket for the fabulous price of £12 for two adults and two children - a £6 saving on the full ticket price.

This offer is available only through the Gazette and Herald from May 15 until June 5.

All you need to do to buy your discounted family ticket is fill out and bring a coupon from the Gazette and Herald. The coupon will be printed for the next four weeks, starting in next week's paper.
